orias 0 Posted December 23, 2009 I think you need to do a better job of maksing if you are going to add an effect like this to a photo. It doesn't make visual sense why the water next to the windsurfer looks different in terms of motion blur than the rest of the water. Better masking to include all of the water would improve the look you were after or working harder to get that in camera with panning and a slow shutter speed is the other option. Link to comment
dennisbarnett 0 Posted January 1, 2010 While I agree with David's assessment (I have alot of appreciation for David's work), I will go one step further here. John, you have a few photos in your gallery that show a really nice eye for more "graphic" composition. What I mean by that is an instinct to emphasize color, texture, and design (more discriminating composition). I find those shots, such as the balloon collage and a few of the landscape details, much more interesting than the nice captures of dogs and flowers, which are more commonplace. You should try doing more of that because the eye is there; you just need to exercise it more. Link to comment
john_nell 591 Posted January 1, 2010 Thanks Dennis for your informative critique. They are worthy comments. The wind surfer was one of my 1st attemps of blending 2 photos together & was done quickly . John Link to comment
