Taken at a history race meeting last May. Just converted to BW and a

very slight crop. Any comments or suggestions on alternative

angles/views/content I could have considered welcomed. Thanks.

I think that the black and white tones are really appropriate for the composition. I also like the point of view and the general composition. For me can look better with a more "dramatic" light, with more strong dark/light contrast and also without the box in foreground, his Beta's sticker is really distracting from the car.

Enrico,

Thanks for the feedback. Obviously the original was in colour and the box was red. I tried alternative BW conversions (I use PS Elements) to see if the different RGB sliders have an impact on the box. Below is an alternative conversion. The box is less obvious and the contrast up but the Beta sticker is still there.

Interestingly when I revistited the original it looks like it's not as unmanipulated as I thought as I must have cloned out the the white bit at the bottom centre. Maybe I could clone out the Beta sticker!

Hello Jon

I really like the original. Yes the other poster's comments about the 'BETA" sticker are true, it does take away from the image (unless it's an ad for 'BETA').

The expanse of the floor contributes to the stillness, or solitude of the image, which immo is what makes it art as opposed to a snapshot.

I may have moved the jack handle ~ a foot to the left. Or moved the camera enough to the right to eliminate the overlap, but I love the straight on impact & the missing mechanics. (Did aliens abduct them? Hard to believe they all had time to have lunch at the same time. Most motorsport work has to be done in less time than is available)

BTW What is the car? Lotus, Lola? I can see it's a 4 cylinder, probably ~ 1.5L. 25yrs ago I would have known.

Great shot, JD
