ray.koushik 0 Posted December 15, 2009 I see that you've not invited anyone for it yet...may I join in? Very nice ambiance, a Rembrandt-type light. compliments -koushik Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted December 15, 2009 Thanks so much for your comment. I'm veering back into some color pieces after months of posting only B&W. The light seemed warm and yellow and inviting. Hopefully, I'll have some time to catch up on comments on others' work soon. Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted December 15, 2009 The first rays of the day... A reflection... Warm colors here and there... A stove (?)... No sound... No bodies!...Why do I fail to feel like I was invited? Why can't I see "hope" in spite of the fresh rays? Why?Perhaps, you have only supplied the substrate for our minds and mine chose to brew something sour. And, I cannot help it!It is cold outside.... and, I am out... Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 15, 2009 I'm with Bulent on this one. It is cold out here , I'm hungry and the table is bare. Link to comment
mbh 0 Posted December 16, 2009 I love the fact that if you turned around, from the reflection in the glass, you have this gorgeous traditional landscape with an exquisite blue sky behind you. And yet, we look inward at that empty table. Wonderful photograph. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted December 16, 2009 it takes a set of great eyes and a mind to go with it to see the beauty in the ordinary. Luckily you have both. I'm impressed how you handled this one. Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted December 16, 2009 A midwest style theme if Ive ever seen one. I like the reflection . It puts a nice twist on the composition. Link to comment

timzeipekis 5 Posted December 16, 2009 I love the contradiction between the warm glow of the inside and the cold blue sky of the outside reflected in the window, the plants peering in on the far window and seen in the foreground climbing up to the window....all of it focused on that cozy and inviting table......very, very nice! jeffl7 0 Posted December 17, 2009 Ruud: The lighting was great that day. Thanks. Bulent: Jeez. Why are you sitting in the parking lot? C'mon inside. The coffee's brewing. We saved a seat for you. Gordon: You can sit next to Bulent. Mark: There was something warm and ephemeral about how the light was coming in. Thanks. Ton: I've been perusing through some of Stephen Shore's work. I feel like my color photos are lacking, and this is a first step in trying to correct that. Appreciated. Joseph: Greasy spoons. Hash & eggs. I grew up in the land of diners. You'd be surprised how much rural Massachusetts has a similar feel and look. Jayanti: Thanks so much. Tim: My favorite part is the gang of weeds straining to peep through the window. My wife thought it distracted. Talk about contradictions. Alberto:!!!! Tony: I'm glad that this can't be eaten in one bite. A.K.: No better compliment. I was striving for that similar glow. Thank you, sir. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 17, 2009 As usual with you it is a very interesting melange, looking in and out from a window, observing the cold sky out, the warm table in... I hope you have one more place near the table to warm up and a hot cup of coffee. It is raining here and hazy.....;-)) My compliments for this unique artistic composition. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted December 17, 2009 Hi Jeff,Pnina put it very nicely on this image! I completely agree with her... and love the contrast of warm and cold colors, and nostalgic mood this image evokes! Cheers! Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted December 18, 2009 This is just great Jeff - has a Hopper feel to it. Glad you're exploring color again - if this is any indication of what's to come we're in for some fine images to enjoy. Best, David Link to comment
lliebl 5 Posted December 18, 2009 JeffS - The time of day is a big player in this one. Not quite dark, not yet light. The quiet is implied. Nice shot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~L Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 18, 2009 A good color piece to come back with. There's radiance and nuance. You've harmonized competing expressions of light and color temperature. The simplicity of the scene suggests thoughtfulness to me. Your subject seems to be the photograph here. I like that. Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted December 19, 2009 So "No Calm Privacy" has to exit my "Favorites" folder. This kind of image is really difficult, in my experience, but this one is fantastic. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted December 20, 2009 I like how the backlight is creating volume feel...the sky relfection on top complements it wonderfully...it's interesting for me that you went color on this one after a long serie of BW...I did not try it but I guess in BW this image would loose some (if not most) of it's 3D feel, I mean my eyes go from the foreground to the table (attracted by the colors) and then out to the poles shadows and outside red... Donna Stavis 0 Posted December 21, 2009 Jeff, the colors work together beautifully: splashing red, moody blue, wake up yellow, and diner green as they play with light. It does feel warm inside because of the sun rays penetrating through glass, but we're outside with the early morning weeds, cinderblock, and aluminum. I feel caught in an uncomfortable transition between the two where neither feels comfortable. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 21, 2009 I guess I missed this the first time through but beter late than never. I find this a very satisfying picture; it blends elements as nicely as a French stew and the result is just as delicious. The colors dip in and out of the shadows, flaring up brilliantly or glowing softly like the Northern Lights. The whole thing is a dazzling puzzle of space and light; it both challenges and delights. davidorea 1 Posted December 21, 2009 Lovely scene, Jeff. The colors, light, details and atmosphere are unique. What I enjoy in most of your photographs, Jeff, are precisely the atmospheres. And in this one, the colors are really exquisite. High quality capture. Congrats! Link to comment
