portrait in still-life

I was in a Victorian-era mood when I created this. Lately I've been looking at a lot of Julia Margaret Cameron's photographic work and paintings by Rossetti. Great inspiration. Original composite photo-illustration using a few of my older images. Assembled, converted to grayscale and sepia toned in photoshop.Just some fun.

This is a very interesting "triptych" in that the wings are somehow more subtle than the central panel (obviously, it's more focused) but whilst one's gaze rests on the model I find that the mind is somehow processing the information leaking in from the sides. At this realisation, one can then move out to inspect the abstractions - for a little while before being pulled back in. It's rather challenging, much more so than a stand alone portrait.

I guess that makes it slightly 'busy' as compared to a regular portrait; or perhaps we could say 'more cerebral!' Keep experimenting.
