lalit 0 Posted December 9, 2009 The Sahyadrees, the mountain of monsoon, is not the same when the monsoon recedes and the October heat drys up the moss and the grass accumulated on the thin sheet of soil on the high mountain ridges. The black cliffs become visible. Some entice the rock climbers and sometimes those even higher than 1000 to 2000 feet visible that would bring shivers. In this cliffland were built the ancient forts to protect from outside enemy aggressions from ruthless rulers from neighboring countries. They protected natives and could keep watch on the province. Forts in Maharashtra brought everyone to their knees including the British who later tried to rule India. One such fort known as one of the highest, as remote as one can be and as hard as can be, and not possible without trained rock climbers. This one captured in the evening displaying its never ending ridge in the warm light at the sunset. Thanks for looking. +Lalit Link to comment
