Pierre Dumas 303 Posted December 6, 2009 Photographer's Request for Critique --Pierre Dumas Close up (kind of) Thanks for Your attention! ODE Critiques Richard Gale , May 03, 2007; 04:34 A.M. Pierre, beautiful image very well captured with good composition, I know this is throw away critique, but as you know my opinion is off an unskilled amateur :-). All the best Rich. Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , May 03, 2007; 06:45 A.M. (edit | delete) Hey Rich, long time no see, ha! I'm still waiting for that bloody connection and don't go almost anywhere! You're being inappropriately modest! A good photographer must be able to SEE and DO! A good critic should be only able too see and talk! If you are a good photographer and you certainly are, then why should your critique be thrown away?! A picture of Van Gogh was being sold for one billion dollars, have you heard a critique of his pictures being sold nearly that much, ha! Your weak side is only the post processing which is important, so, buy yourself Adobe CS2 and start practicing. Don't hesitate to ask me about anything you want and need to know. About this picture - it couldn't be exactly called a capture, because "the capture" was lousy. I removed all the surplus details from the flower photo, fixed those which are still on it and added the bee-wasp! It's a wasp obviously, bees are so hard to be captured. This one was standing on my window, I took several pictures and afterwards I selected this one, made it PSD and now I can drag and drop it wherever I want! Look around, lately I have some real "captures", sort of, in my first folder on my member page! PDE Jan Piller [subscriber] , May 03, 2007; 04:40 P.M. Brother If I could PS that good, I would have put a whole swarm of those buzzers on the flower! I just came from your portfolio - I was skulking around being nosey. I like that little village that looks like your village. It looks quiet and peaceful. Did I tell you - next to the sound of birds, bees make the most delightful sound! So this picture has a good mood for me - I can almost hear your buzzer, it so clear and well focused! Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , May 03, 2007; 08:48 P.M. (edit | delete) Hey my baby sis! Your fool of a brother (and the big one to be), forgot to save the big work and therefore can only add a swarm to this picture which is the largest size he has! You concentrated on the bee to be (it is a wasp in fact) and didn't notice that that kind of flowers don't exist! I mean the kind without dirty and damaged leaves, branches all over the place and other unwanted and not needed details. That was the big job. The inserting of the bee to be was a piece of cake, drag and drop, and a little bit adjusting of the shadow to look real! Did you learn your lesson, I mean the mathematics, writing the numbers remember?! We were at six last time I taught you! If you show me how you learned to write seven I will maybe send you a whole swarm of these! For drag and drop on your pictures, unlimited copy right included! Kisses from your big bro! PDE Darren and Danielle Jones , May 04, 2007; 05:46 P.M. Great image. Good use of color and contrast as well as comp. Very good work. Darren Pascal Agneray [subscriber] , May 05, 2007; 03:05 A.M. Most importantly I do not rate every picture a 6/6 or higher. My mother taught me that if I did not have something nice to say then do not say anything at all. Well that is applied here as well Maajed Naghshbandi , May 05, 2007; 04:12 A.M. Very well done, Pierre. Exciting colors and composition. It is full of life, I like it very much. Ali Soltani Farani , May 05, 2007; 05:34 A.M. Hi Pierre! What a beauty Peirre! Perfect exposure. One can dissolve in the colors. Congrats. Regards. Ali. Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , May 05, 2007; 05:38 A.M. (edit | delete) Thank you all people! Pascal, buy yourself a package of sense of humor, your father should have taught you that! It's chip, as a matter of fact free of charge, just have to see it you blind man! I'm kidding, humor, you know! Saying something with a use of wit and spirit...ah, nobody pays for it though! PDE, the downwards fool, the perfect one! oscar arias , May 05, 2007; 11:20 A.M. beautifull perfect combination of color, the contrast, the light, composition and the sharpness. Bravo maestro.Hope to take pictures like you some day Sylvie Bélanger [subscriber] , May 05, 2007; 08:03 P.M. Perfect Mr. Pierre ! Hi Pierre ! What a beautiful capture ! It got it all : light, colors, details and composition ... I really love what you do : I learn a lot from you ! Keep doing your excellent work ! Best regards Sylvie Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , May 05, 2007; 11:31 P.M. (edit | delete) Thank you all my friends! And please don't mind our odd conversation, that of Pascal and me! We are talking in codes. And talking about codes, Da Vinchie's Code comes from my environment and nobody mentions that in the film. The Katars and the Templars were taught by people from my country called Bogomils! It was a sect which was against any kind of authority including the despotism of the so called Church! By the way I believe I'm kind of Bogomil, ha! Maybe that's why my abstracts don't go well on the market! Let us show bees then! PDE Jim Phelps [subscriber] [Frequent poster] , May 06, 2007; 02:14 P.M. Pierre, This foto has excellent composition and content. The colors are bright and interesting, and the petals act as leading lines to the bee which is off center and almost obeys the rule of thirds. Congratulations! i.e. this is a 7/7! Jim Phelps Jef Van den Houte [subscriber] [Frequent poster] , May 07, 2007; 05:18 A.M. Beautifull macro image. Strong colours and light David Stevens [subscriber] , May 07, 2007; 08:16 A.M. Incredible clarity Pierre Thanks for commenting on my work. I would have to agree with you on the clarity of my shot. I was not using a tripod on any of the pictures in my portfolio. No excuse, just a statement of fact. BRAVO on you fine work sir. Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , May 07, 2007; 08:52 A.M. (edit | delete) Thank you all people! As I already said in one of my replies, it was easy thing to insert the PSD bee to be, but there was a lot of work on the flower's background! I don't live in a flower shop you know and such a perfect flowers can be only there found. This was really fresh and perfect, I didn't touch the flower, but the leaves and the branches...! Yesterday I tried to click on the flower again, but it was far from that perfection. Everything is temporary in this world, ha! Cheers to all of you! PDE Biswajit Pandey , May 07, 2007; 09:18 A.M. The picture perfect ! Regards Tony Hadley [Frequent poster] , May 07, 2007; 09:20 P.M. When so much has already been said and i agree with most of it - what can I say except to say that it is a beautiful and very well captured shot. Not sure if it is my old eyes or if there a shadow on the upper portion of the petal on the right side. Probably just needs a little PS touch-up. Here I am giving comments on your stuff and I am not even in your league - not entirely comfortable with that. The photo gives me a sense of the summer that we will have - my tulips have just opened a few flowers today for the first time here in Quebec. Have a great day Pierre, Cherlyn . [subscriber] , May 09, 2007; 09:16 A.M. This acutally got very vivid details & the colours are great as well. Light also well used. Too perfect, actually ^o^ Joseph Darmenia [subscriber] , May 09, 2007; 11:00 A.M. Nice capture. Well done. Blake Desaulniers [subscriber] , May 09, 2007; 11:30 A.M. Hi Esq. Rather..... ! Vallery B [subscriber] , May 11, 2007; 10:32 A.M. Beauty! well done! vallery Paula Grenside [subscriber] , May 12, 2007; 06:26 A.M. Gorgeous, with splendid details. John Peri [subscriber] [Frequent poster] , May 12, 2007; 07:17 A.M. Truly excellent Pierre, even without the amazing bee, bravo Teresa Zafon [subscriber] [Frequent poster] , May 13, 2007; 10:55 A.M. Very nice this one Pierre. Composition, lighting and colours are excellent. Ali Hussein [subscriber] , June 30, 2008; 09:10 A.M. the winner Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , June 30, 2008; 10:14 A.M. (edit | delete) Ali, It's just a montage! I could never catch butterfly or bee or even wasp on a background like this! Even the background was first thoroughly "elaborated" before I put the wasp on it! Thank you for the pair of the big ones which this picture doesn't deserve seen as a macro shot. You're the boss for the macros! Ha! PDE Donald Campbell [subscriber] , July 07, 2008; 08:10 A.M. A super workrate done extremely well in this one showing your imaginative and artistic skills, well done. like it very much. Donny Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , July 07, 2008; 08:36 A.M. (edit | delete) I like it too! Especially because it's my own bee to bee on PSD file! And because I worked very hard on the background to eliminate all the surplus stuff! PDE Mark Thomas [subscriber] , July 09, 2008; 09:52 A.M. Thanks for visiting my photo of the day lily. you are right - I like yours better. fantastic photo. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 17, 2010 As I said in another post, this is a fine rendition of this boom. Big of you to 'fess up on the Photoshopping of the wasp. Very skillfully done! The slight mismatching of the sizes of your subjects makes the wasp look like a monster to me as I have some similar lilies & am familiar with their sizes. Best, LM. Link to comment
