garrido_manuel 0 Posted March 4, 2010 As a photographer I am used to organizing my photography work (portraiture) into series, that usually have a very strong concept. I used to think that this idea may help me; not only in the strenght of the work, but also in the construction of the image. However, I have recently realized that sometimes I just shrink my possibilities and I didn't explore the subject before taking the photograph, that was just because I had already decided the "look" of the series no matter if it changed the enviroment of each portrait; though, sometimes this ends in a Cul-de- sac, also know as dead-end. Recently, I decided to change dramatically the way I take my photographs, just to see what happen... I have been trying not to make schemes before making my photos; I tried to arrive to the image through a more unconsciousness path. I should say I am quite anxious about the results of this new experience; However, It feels awesome! I look forward to know your opinions about these ideas and of course don't hesitate to show all your sincerity by telling me what you think about these images... Link to comment
steve_rasmussen 314 Posted March 4, 2010 Too much dark area for a color shot. Black and white would have been better but still not great. Subject matter lacks interest. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 5, 2010 Manuel, I like your new approach. You may get something out of the book by John Daido Loori titled "The Zen of Creativity." It strongly supports the approach you're taking. Link to comment
jschultis 0 Posted March 5, 2010 I agree with your approach as well. We have to learn to see. I have just started woking on this myself. I try not to label anything in my mind - once labelled, the mind stops looking. Also, I find that I need to stop thinking about other's opinions too much. Please yourself - that's what counts. Good luck! Link to comment
