hagar 7,643 Posted January 24, 2010 This looks like a lactarius.. their flesh tends to be on the brittle side.. if the flesh is damaged you might get a green coloured milk (that is one of the ones we used to get in Lebanon. Not sure of the species). If it is lactarius deliciosus, it is edible and good after washing. Very tasty fried up with a little bit of butter and some salt, pepper and maybe a touch of lemon added at the end. The milk from the deliciosus is mild and turns a carrot color quite quickly. Cap and stipe may have greenish spots. A lot of the lactarius species are inedible.. but typically not poisonous. Link to comment
