I photographed frost feathers for a long time found the results to be bland. So brainstormed and come up with a way to juice things up. Put lights behind subject and took an extreme close up

I think that the concept behind this photograph is neat. I mean, if you thinking about it, Glen would have had to set up his camera inside or outside, then go to the opposite side of the window to set up the light. It would have been quite the process. I do not know about the end result. I have dabbled in "Frost Feathers" and i think that the natural lighting in my pictures is a nicer effect. I do agree with the above comments about cropping the picture, and the link to Phil g.'s site has some absolutely stunning pictures of frost. If you have not yet checked it out, i would highly recommend it (especially if you have read this far in to the POW discussion!)

I do like the Frost Feathers as an abstract. I feel the artist got what he wanted in this by adding the colors. I appreciate ones creativity and personal taste. I discovered photographing frost by accident and find it now to be a fun subject to capture. I have one called "Frosted glass" in my folder. It is of frost on my cars wind shield and the sunrise through the woods. # 3125147

This is a great photo. The execution is well done. It's a very creative way of lighting ice crystals; and for that alone, it deserves discussion in this forum. I think you've done quite well and hope to apply this and be inspired to think out of the box.

Sincerely,

Don

Doug your right - the images aren't much different today with the exception of color. I have to say, the minute I saw this POW I immeidately thought of Bentley and the struggles he went throught to get his pictures. I know it took SEVERAL frames to make this spectacular image. I think this image is mystical and curious all in the same frame. You really need to look closley to see what it is.

Great photo!
