Looks like zone system work. Good exposure with detail just about throughout the image (hard to tell with scans sometimes). Nice depth to the image. The composition doesn't provide a nice entry intot he image though. Of course, I get that a lot on my shots as well ;-)

Lovely framing of empty space with two shadows on either side.

 

Like the previous post said there are no lines that lead you into this photo. My eyes jump between the two poles of shadows, but I like this, I think it adds to the mystery.

 

What makes it mysterious? ....the long shadows? the close almost claustrophobic cropping?

 

I also the detail on the stone steps.

It´s true there is no leading lines, the main idea of the composition is the fraimig, the simetry and bicicle that breaks this simetry. I took some frames with leading lines but the back light was so strong that they didn´t work out, too much flare.
