It's a damn tough life full of toil and strife

We whalerman udergo.

But we don't give a damn when we drink our rum

How hard the winds do blow...

CHORUS:

Rolling down to old Mowhee, me boys

Rolling down to old Mowhee.

We're homeward bound from the Arctic ground

Rolling down to old Mowhee.

Song sung by whalermen based in the roads at Lahaina when they finished their 'short season' in the Kamchatka Sea.

Heard at this location.

Thanks for that Les. It turns out that this jail's main occupants were sailors who got drunk and didn't make it back to ship by nightfall.
