jmcconnell2 0 Posted November 17, 2009 Very good shot! The wall and background really makes the bird pop. Link to comment
chrisvest 1 Posted November 18, 2009 hi jim thanks for taking the time to comment. one version i did had big cactus back there, but i agree with you: it seems the minimal background keeps it clean and simple. thanks to everyone who rated. cheers, chris Link to comment
murphymj4803 0 Posted December 7, 2009 As a city boy from Detroit I will take it as gospel that this is indeed a rock solid representation of a Roadrunner, love that splash of blue. However, if it isn't 'C'est la vie', who cares it's a stunner. I really like this a great deal. Good work. Link to comment
chrisvest 1 Posted December 7, 2009 hi michael, thanks for the comments, glad you like. i'm attaching the original to show that glint of blue. i probably exaggerated it a bit, but it's not entirely fiction. (i wish i would've lifted the tail more). thanks for dropping by. Link to comment
murphymj4803 0 Posted December 8, 2009 I hate to take a back handed slap at Mother Nature but I like your rendition of this Roadrunner far better than hers. Also, the depth of colors in your finished photo is excellent, in a saturated sort of way. I like the idea of tweaking reality to make it more visually interesting. I salute your efforts, well done. aldorner 0 Posted December 11, 2009 If you don't mind me asking, what program are you using to extract the bird? Really well done! Al Link to comment
chrisvest 1 Posted December 11, 2009 thanks michael, yep: mother nature is the source of all, but sometimes some finessing is called for. al: the software is just photoshop CS. there were actually 3 different roadrunner pictures combined. if there is a plain background, it's helpful to use the "magic wand" to select similarly colored areas. in the case of a complicated background, i use the "lasso" tool-- i've gotten to be pretty fast at it, but it still takes a lot of patience. cheers, and thanks.
