Guest Guest Posted November 15, 2009 I like the higher key treatment of this, which reads as arid to me and raises the "heat" a bit. He's pretty cool, with his very matter-of-fact expression and pose, holding that killing machine. There's an irony in this presentation. The shadows act as their own characters, butting into the high key scene with abandon. It's got a very casual and un-self-conscious feel to it yet there's an intentionality offsetting that. It's a strong piece. I wonder about his eyes left so much in shadow. I keep wanting a little more connection there but am not sure whether you're purposely keeping the viewer at a bit of a distance.
