Honey Light

ian cameron

Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Scotland. Sunrise was a pretty sombre affair but there were gaps in the clouds so I opted to hang around and was gifted the most stunning low amber light, like thick clear honey drizzled over a beautiful wild moorland landscape. The cloak of broken cloud was peppered with blue and tinged slightly pink by the remnants of a sunrise that just failed to mature properly. The broken patches of intense sunlight create teriffic visual depth and clarity. Pentax 67II, 55-100 zoom. polariser, 0.45ND hard grad, f/16 at 1/4 sec, Velvia. Sunrise was disappointing but shortly after honey coloured light spread

over part of the Rannoch moor landscape at Glencoe and offered some

wonderful opportunities.

Always a pleasure to see your new shots this have a very nice feeling with the clouds and wind and the burst of sunlight. Very good.

Great colours and one of my favorite places in Scotland. I tried to shoot the same view several times, but never succeeded with a picture I was pleased with. Yours works better, but still I have the feeling that the composition is somehow not embalanced. Maybe if you stand on top of the bridge behind you and use a slightly longer focal lenght, then this sort of triangle shape of the seaweed in the foreground would have a counterpart in the inverted triangle shape of the mountains in the background...? I will try this the next time I'm over there. Regards, Martin
