AlainD 0 Posted November 3, 2009 The Bahnar are an ethnic group living in the Central Highlands and the nearby coastal provinces of Vietnam. Some of the most warmhearted and beautiful people I've ever met. Any C&C will be appreciated! Thanks, Alain Link to comment
david_l._forney 0 Posted November 4, 2009 Alain, This is an exceptionally beautiful image. I love her expression of innocence and interest. The DOF is wonderful with the 3 levels from the girl, to the child to the man's arm in the back. Her skin tones are beautiful. Well balanced and subtle colors. Wonderful image. David Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted November 5, 2009 Thanks a lot David! Although I don't think this picture is worth a 7/7, I would be very interested in reading some comments from the person who rated it 4/3. My PP made it maybe not so aesthetic. But is it lacking so much originality? Strange... Link to comment
david_l._forney 0 Posted November 6, 2009 Alain, Everyone receives random 4s and 3s from people in 2 categories (I think). There are members who just want to bring down others' works, regardless of the quality. I also read somewhere that there are computer bots that spew out these bad ratings. My experience is that, when I look at the average ratings I received in total for all my images, these low, indiscriminate ratings are ignored, because the math doesn't otherwise work. I believe that PN routinely removes them from those ratings. Find the best images on PN and you will find 4s and 3s. Has nothing to do with the image. Forget about them. This is a wonderful image and you're a talented guy. By the way, find photographers on PN whose work you admire and provide comments on their images. They will then discover your portfolio. You don't have the exposure you deserve. David Link to comment
peternientied 0 Posted November 6, 2009 I like the beautiful expression of the girl and the colours of the picture. The right side (part of a hand, body in the background) detracts my attention a bit. regards Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted November 6, 2009 David : once again, thanks for you comments and support. What is quite strange is that I usually receive those low ratings very quickly, always during the first hours after posting the picture. I can live with them, though!!! Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted November 6, 2009 Peter : thanks for your kind comments! This is the shoulder of her father (or grand-father). I hesitated to clone it out. But in a certain way I like it. It's as if the girl and the baby were protected. And it brings some "depth" to the image. Maybe I'll try to clone it out, just to see if it's better or not, and I'll post the picture below. Best regards, Alain Link to comment
jarek_wilkiewicz 0 Posted December 27, 2009 This is a great image, her expression and the tones are amazing. The only think i would have done differently is that i wouldve pushed aperture a bit so the baby wouldve been in focus. I know that its a matter of personal taste and idea for particular picture. Great photo Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted February 20, 2010 Jarek : I wish I had a little more DOF... but unfortunately the light conditions were not so good. Thanks for your comment ! Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted August 7, 2010 I finally decided to clone out the man's shoulder in the background. Thanks for your comments! Link to comment
