The hills in the background are meant to give more depth, as arethe foreground branches (top-left and bottom-right).

I prefer this composition. My eye moves from the lower right, diagonally over to the other house, and then along the top of the hill to the right side of the photo. Including the hills in the background provides the depth you were trying to convey. Nicely done.
