Illuminati

ian cameron

If in doubt it's not a bad idea just to remember that photography's literal translation is to "write with light", with that in mind I opted to just concentrate on the amazing almost holy display of light rays that had managed to burst its way through a thick covering of cloud over the moor. The contrast range of course is huge but by concentrating on the illuminated areas the tonal range of the area photographed is reduced to just about manageable amounts. Hot spots in reflection have been reduced by careful positioning of boulders a technique I use quite frequently to make a high contrast scene kinder on the eyes.See more images and Photographic workshops at TRANSIENT LIGHT

Ian - Wonderfully simple - Excellent tones really grabbed my interest. The mid phot orizon split works well here for me, emphasizing the tranquility and calm. Great image.

Dark clouds contrasted by sunlight beams breaking right through them - and the light is reflected by the calm surface of the pond in various directions, absolutely stunning / amazing! The viewer's eyes are discovering so many esthetical elements in this image, it is a joy: for instance, these awesome dark stones plus the seaweed in between, in the background the dark hills and mountains - a seemingly very surreal scenario ("the roaring silence"), very well observed, captured and edited. Outstanding perspective and composition. Technically flawless as well. Overall, a splendid, excellent work in landscape photography IMHO. Exactly a special kind of landscape photography I like particularly very much.
