Manistee River in Autumn

This to me is an ordinary photo of a not so picturesque scene, and yet the composition takes it well beyond ordinary making it a very pleasing and appealing photo. The lighting, the colors, the composition; it all falls together just right. I learned a lot from this photo, in that it doesn't follow what I used to consider to be the "rules of composition" for a great photo; it taught me a new way to look at things. The photo appeals to me because it is not an extraordinary scene and yet it looks great.

Thank you David, and there are several more of your photos I really like. I just haven't commented on all of them. I like your approach and you have a very good eye for composition, in my opinion. I expect I'll load some photos eventually, but I'm just now starting to think about my photos instead of just snapping shots of what looks pretty. Thank you again for sharing your photos.

 

PS: I hope you didn't take it wrong when I used the word "ordinary"; that is part of what I like so much about it.
