Life's a Beach

I met this couple on Daytona Beach during Speedweek of 2001. It was late afternnnon and they were drinking beer. The woman was bruised, glassy-eyed and missing teeth. She didn't seem to be aware of what was going on around her. The man said he was going to hitch hike to Orlando that evening, because he thought he could find work there. They were very young. A sad tale in the making.
