Waiting...

I like the perspective you took on the stairs-for a while I thought she was sitting on a roof. Perhaps if you wanted to make the person look even smaller, you could have tried taking the shot from the lower right, and gotten the height of the stairs in perspective. Overall, a rather nice shot.

I took this one from a terrace in the Kulturhuset (a multipurpose

building, host to all sorts of exhibitions, theater, etc.). The

terrace overlooked the Sorgels Torg, a public square which has an

underground level with some shops. This girl was waiting in the stairs

that take you to the bottom level of the square, sometimes checking

her cell phone. I guess she was waiting for someone, although it was a

lovely day and I would have sit in those stairs just to watch people

pass by.

 

So, what do you think? Does this picture appeal to you in any way?

This was the first shot I take of somebody I don't know without them

noticing, and I actually felt a little intrusive, but there was no way

I could ask her for permission! Thanks for your comments, critiques, etc.

You are a natural with photographic form: I just had a look at your folders and all your best images have a simplicity of form, composition and light which reveals a rare "photographers eye".

I hope you do not mind my suggestion, but, I would prefer your folders (portfolios) if you edited out the more "fussy" photographs; it just doesn't suit your over-all style.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Stephen, I have thought about "cleaning up" my folders a little bit as well for some time now (actually, over time I have been already deleting some images as my technique progressed and results were more convincing). I guess I will do this general clean-up soon, I just wanted to have still some of those photos there to show my progress; sometimes I think it would be kind of deceiving if I only have what I consider the absolute best of my images.

The shadows are distracting from the regularity of the step pattern, and as such take something from the power of the image.

The lighting really puts this one over the top. Excellent!
