jtangen 0 Posted October 21, 2009 The Virgin River at Zion National Park with the Watchman Mountain in distance. I was the first person to set up here for the sunset shot. I was shortly joined by a very nice gal photog and we debated whether the sky would turn red or not (both of us hoping so). By the time things started looking real good we had a crowd of about 50 people around with various types of cameras waiting also. By the time the light was at it's optimum, everyone had given up and left except us two. It pays to wait. Link to comment

whydangle 0 Posted October 22, 2009 Hey Jeff, this is outstanding! While I doubt I could give you high marks on originality (this is perhaps the most photographed vantage in Zion), I think the aesthetics overpower the shortsighted criteria that Photo.Net sets forth. I wish they would revamp the benchmarks to include technical merit, challenge of lighting and volume of color. I didn't look at the technical info, but I am guessing a blend of two or more exposures, although I can see where a grad may have been used. Patience is a virtue, as evidenced here! Link to comment
cphilpott 0 Posted October 26, 2009 Jeff, the complimentary tones in this shot, the earth and sky, sand and rocks and clouds, it is well done. The story really completes this shot as well. It is a good reminder to be patient and let the shot come to you rather then being over hurried and miss the moment. Regards. Link to comment
