This is a good image that could be made great by changing the crop. The doorway is sitting smack in the middle of the frame. The area between the slabs of concrete and water are great leading lines, which lead the eye right to the doorway. By placing the doorway at the intersection of the left vertical and top horizontal third, it improves the composition considerably.

I agree with your assessment. I liked the symmetry of the centered doorway. Call me Monk perhaps.

I thought an optional crop would be to have it equal as it is but to crop the floor up to the point of U of the reflection to get symmetry there.
