justin norell 0 Posted March 25, 2001 what a beautiful tree. the caption really helps viewers experience what you felt while taking this shot. did you happen to take any with the tree slightly to one side, kind of like an 'over the shoulder' type view? very attractive shot, regardless. jerry_harrison1 0 Posted April 20, 2001 This is an awesome shot. It almost looks like the tree stopped there to enjoy the view. Link to comment
tri_pham 0 Posted April 26, 2001 the tone of the color is very appropriate with the subject and the scene, great work Link to comment
terence_collins 0 Posted April 30, 2001 This is indeed a nice photo, but I do not feel the bottom 1/3rd of the photo contributes to the image. I would have gotten close to the root located center and let the primary subject provide the lines to drive the eye to the focal point. To accomodate the entire image, I would have gone with something c. 20-35mm. The warmth of the light provides an interesting contrast with such a sad subject (imho), and in my opinion is the most interesting aspect of the photo. Link to comment
hazel_billingsley 0 Posted May 15, 2001 It looks like the tree has thrown one leg over the rock to rest and enjoy the view. Breathtaking shot! Colors are very nice. Link to comment
yui_cheng 0 Posted May 23, 2001 This great picture is not what you all think it is....It's actually an image of alient landing on the Red Planet, and it got there before human's. Anyhoo, great shot as it is! Link to comment
matt_milan 0 Posted May 31, 2001 Feels very peaceful to me. The afternoon sun bathing down over the rocks, leading off onto a magnificent view. Makes me think of packing a lunch and taking the day off.. =) Link to comment
ben_pece 0 Posted June 18, 2001 sorry Kiet... IMHO i think Doug Broussard's version beat you here... I think the "rule of thirds" and the colors in his version are winning me over...Still love all your other work! Link to comment
chachi_arcola 0 Posted July 31, 2001 ...but I must agree with Ben that Doug Broussard's version presents a more compelling story. Stated most simply, the haze both apparently above and in the distance (as well as a medley of ugly-looking clouds in the background) detract from the image. Link to comment
lovethismoment 0 Posted August 11, 2001 I have to disagree with Ben and Dominic. While Doug's version may be a 'technically' better photo yours has a kind of surreal atmosphere which is what makes yours one of my favourites on photo net and Dougs just another picture. The haze, light, ugly-looking clouds and composition all help to create this atmosphere which leads me to feel, as others have commented, that the tree is sitting there admiring the amazing view. Love your work! Link to comment
jodie coston 0 Posted September 26, 2001 Lovely lighting and a striking subject. I'd possibly crop on the left where there's not much light on the clouds. Link to comment
jeff_clark 0 Posted September 28, 2001 Wow, this tree has aged. Since Ansel Adams photographed it, it's really changed. And with all the photographs taken of it in the last 50 years it's truly a time line. Link to comment
gerry_clarke 0 Posted November 17, 2001 It is still a 10/10, wouldn't if be nice if mother nature would co-operate then lighting would have been perfect across the lower right portion of the photo. Great photo. Link to comment
