hanna_cowpe 0 Posted January 22, 2003 Nice light, and I like the reflection of the other people next to him, but I think a bit more space around him and a bit more sharpness would have been better. Link to comment
barmijo 0 Posted January 22, 2003 In this small scale the image may seem unsharp because I've stylized it in PS with brush strokes and textures for printing in a large format. bert Link to comment
jimvanson 0 Posted January 29, 2003 I'm going to call this the most underrated print I've seen this month. The color, light and crop are superb. If there was a little more headroom things would IMHO be flawless...well done...cheers! Link to comment
charodiez 0 Posted January 31, 2003 Bert, I love this shot, maybe because I´m addicted to shooting children ; ) I think I like the reflection on the water even more than the kid himself. Interesting tonal range... and thank you for your comment on one of my shots. Link to comment
vincetylor 0 Posted February 8, 2003 Great capture! A bit sharper would help even more, but still this is a fun shot! Link to comment
samdeleted 0 Posted February 11, 2003 I wonder, since you seem so willing to adjust in photoshop, whether it might have been good to take a photo of the beach without all those people in the background and then use that to remove them in this image. That way the reflection of the kid wouldn't be so cluttered up with all the other reflections. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted February 20, 2003 IMO the reflections of the background peopla add atractiveness to the shot. Perfectly composed, also IMHO. Very nice! Link to comment
americo_vespucci 0 Posted February 20, 2003 one of your BEST shots! (...and he is sooo sweeeet! :-))) Link to comment
uccemebug 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Nice work! I suspect that the old photo.net re-compression steals something from this one, but find the composition to be quite good, and the tones and colours strong as well. I agree with the call for a bit more head space, both in the top and bottom. I think the reflections add to the story of the pic and should be kept. Link to comment
wenger 0 Posted March 6, 2003 I also think the reflections of the people add to the story, but I think I would prefer the shot without them (I'm not suggesting you go at this with PS). If they were gone I think it wuold look more like he were looking out at the ever-expansive sea. So much more could be then read into what the boy is thinking and the potential future interaction between the boy and the sea. Either way, I like this a lot. Something in the boys pose speaks volumes. Link to comment
r.m. 8 Posted March 6, 2003 I agree with Hanna about the added space, but I don't mind the soft look. That and the color of the others' reflections add to the impressionistic feel. Lovely. Link to comment
gordon_szeto 0 Posted March 13, 2003 Great picture, I like the reflection of the people. The one small thing that I might suggest is giving the top just a tad bit more room. Either way, it's a great shot. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted March 14, 2003 Very good. With this one you look and then you look some more - only then do you get the full story. A bit more "headroom" (both above and below the boy's reflection) would be better. But whatever you do don't (IMHO) remove the other people's reflections - it makes the photo what it is. For me it's the story a child's brave steps in facing a somewhat daunting world (am I right that the other people are facing away from him?). Terrific content here! Thanks. Link to comment
frolickingbits 1 Posted March 26, 2003 the way the boy is standing is very young & boyish. I'm undecided about whether or not I like the other reflections or not... Link to comment
geert_vanden_wijngaert 0 Posted September 4, 2003 like this shot, maybe a bit more space under would make it even better. Best Geert Link to comment
michaelarm 0 Posted September 19, 2006 I did a search for fellow "ARMIJO" photographers and found you. I'm glad I did as I was browsing your photographs I was taken by this introspective of a young boy at the beach. Your composition is so wonderful the way you positioned him to the far right. The reflections in the wet sand add an aura of mystery and futuristic wonder as to his future. It's quite wonderful! Link to comment
