thanks Shawn. No big mystery really. I've been very critical of the rating system and all it's sordid side effects in the last year but while I long since started uploading my photos for critique only it could seem a bit hypocritical to leave that rather high average (although it says nothing about the quality of any photographer) in place. So I decided to get rid of that. I've made screenshots of the comments though and kept them because a lot of people made a effort in providing them.

is interesting how you choosed to cut on the sides. it gives the sensation thayt the horizontal lenght is longer than what we see, than the walk of the man is hard. in this way the photo loose the simple graphic nature, and becomes something metephisic

thanks a lot. I shot this during a rainy day against a horrible background. It's part of the government buildings in Berlin. Took me a long time to clean all the clutter ;-)

Not sure what all was in the background prior to your hard work, but the resulting image is so pristine. I love that woodcut feel. Excellent work Ton.

Ton - Just noticing this now. Wow - nicely done. Not sure how you got it so clean! Must have taken a lot of work. It looks great.

thanks. There were a lot of ugly chimneys and houses in the background all under dreary and rainy conditions hence the cleaning up.

I have been following your work in the street/documentary thread and missed this image - glad I found it here. I am a big fan of these types of highly graphic images. This one is just perfect, not only compositionally and technically, but because of the man walking and talking on the phone. He seems so small and insignificant in the space he is walking through, and to me it seems like he needs to talk to someone else to keep from feeling that insignificance. It is a throughly modern image for me - in this day and age is seems like nobody is willing to spend more than a moment with their own thoughts, but must be chattering through some electronic device to keep from being swallowed up by the universe. Fantastic shot - I am jealous...
