Many people refer to our Floridian chameleons as "salamanders". Of

course, they are not salamanders at all, which are shy and illusive

amphibious reptiles. Nor are they chameleons, which is what a lot of

locals mistakenly call them. They are, in fact, the American Green

Anole (the only member of the anole family that's native to the United

States). The salamander that inhabited various mythologies is a

different beast altogether. In some old world stories, salamanders

are elemental spirits that live in fire. In others, they were

lizard-like creatures that resided in and around burning logs and were

able to withstand the hottest fires with no ill effects. Well, here's

my own graphical version of a Salamander. It looks best when viewed at

full resolutions. Thanks.
