Gatis,

She is a beautiful girl. You have focused well on her eyes. Her skin tone is very good. The background is nicely neutral and she is separated well from it. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and has a nice smile. I do like the burning in of the edges, but would like it done more subtly, so it wasn't quite as noticeable.

If you want to crop this close on the bottom, I would crop into the hat on top so that her eyes were higher in the frame. This would give you better top and bottom compositional balance. Another option would be to include more of her on the bottom.

I assume you have your main light so low as to not cast a shadow from her hat onto her face. This creates the problem of very flat lighting. Judicious use of shadows can add interest and the illusion of depth within your photograph. You would just be sure to use adequate fill light to make sure there was enough light on her eye.

The horizontal bar of light that is her catch light in her left eye looks very odd. A nice circle in the 10 or 2 o'clock position would be more acceptable. Do not cut her right eye with the brim of her hat. Either have all of it or none of it showing.

Your left and right compositional balance is quite good as far as the hat goes, but is left heavy for the girl. You would want to move her to her left. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. If you want to include all of the hat you will have to move back (zoom out).

You should remove the hair falling across her left eye. Her mascara doesn't look too bad, but she could use a little eyeliner. She has a nice complexion, but you could remove or soften some imperfections.

Nice shot,

Mark
