This is a horse of a good color.

If the complete shadow were in the frame I would stay with this crop and edit from there. If you think the cutoff of the shadow is spoilsome, then maybe crop the left side of the photo and consider means to emphasize the dust-up from the horse's hooves on the right.

Really good subject, go with it!

I agree with Lannie on this, hard to put a finger on what is so appealing here. I guess it is the motion that I like. I wonder if you could clone out the powerlines, rope and/or fence... it would make it appear that the horse is running free...? Just a thought.

The color of the horse is lovely. I would like a bit more color in the sky I think.

Great picture, Wayne. I like the action in the shot, and the horse is beautiful. The color is great. You seem to have a great place to shoot these types of shots. I guess I need to get some pointers from you on the horse shots. This shot is really nice.

This is quite beautiful. Both the horse and the shot. The capture of motion in the legs really makes us feel the power of the horse. There is a softness in the head, especially in the eye, that is a bit distracting. It's probably motion blur, and I wouldn't want sharpness there if it meant losing the motion in the legs, but perhaps a bit of selective sharpening in PS could help.

I played around with the clone tool and took out the rope, fence and power lines..... what do you think?

Please take into consideration that I am not very adept at PS. Someone with better skills could have made it look less obvious, but you get the idea.

Thank you all for the great comments! Lisa, with this being my first time shooting a horse, I am not sure I can give you any pointers. I was not real sure what I was doing at the time but I was pleasantly surprised with how a few of the photos rendered on the computer screen. I took about 50 shots here with only a handful that I really like. Regina, I like the work that you did with the clone tool. It makes a big difference for the better I think. Again, thank you all!

Wayne: The animal is beautiful and you captured it well. The dynamic is great and the color is super. Tell those people complaining about the sky that KS skies are more beautiful than any other and they are sadly misinformed if they think otherwise.

It is always like to see the power and muscle of a horse. The exposure and color is very nice. If you can select some simpler background, the horse will stand out a lot more.
