An outstanding composition. It leads the eye to the subject from either direction & the entire image keeps the viewer interested. Technically well done, as well, with very good detail throughout. Congrats on POW. Very deserving!

Ton - I said a "tad" that means "subjectively very little". Fine photo indeed as reflected my the rating I gave it ...

Don't know if this even falls into the category of nude. The nudity is so masterfully incorporated into the overall design - it simply just works.

I really like this. It made me look twice for sure. The shape formed by the body is intriguing. The exposure is excellent, lots of detail. I have to say that I am not in love with the dark corners though. Perhaps if the photo were not in a black frame I might feel differently about that. To me the frame makes the photo appear darker than it really is.

Absolutely wonderful and imaginative composition. Creative use of shapes and works well in black and white.

Wow! What an eye and creativity! I love everything about this image.

My title for it would be "Body Bracelet."

Thanks for sharing,

Great ! :-) I find the tonal range ineed ideal to bring out the textures while making the body stand out. And I like the details on the side of the body too. But most important for me here remains the idea : it seems nobody mentionned this before, but what I see here, is a necklace, where the main central motive is the human body... The Universe is here presented as a chain, where the Woman takes a very central position... A lovely concept, really...! Congrats.

It's OK -- I am not all that "in to" totally manufactured photos. It certainly is a product of a creative mind though. It's well executed obviously and the photographer is a master at his craft, no doubt. I would call this modern "Berlin Style B&W".

I have never seen anything quite like this. It is iconic and successfully marries organic to inorganic. Very well conceived and photographed... and my compliments to the willing model. :)
Congrats on POW... well deserved! -g-

First, I do think this is a very well done photograph. As a matter of opinion, I do feel the contrast might have actually been pushed a bit too far, which starts to make it feel a bit more sterile, but this latter feeling is where the image fails a bit for me.

As I said, I do think this is very well done, but I think it is missing an organic environment that would have not given a loaded image, but cocked it and shot it out of the park. Because there is no natural context, I think it just sort of sits there when it could have been much more. As it is, it is a nice concept but feels overly contrived. In a forest or a desert landscape, it would have been incredible giving it something to play off. I think one just needs to compare this to some of Uelsmann's images where he uses a female body in nature, where it can play off other elements, to understand what I mean. (the gravel bed does not creat an organic or natural context IMO)

But nicely done.

Since I am apparently the only one who has offered a negative comment, I feel the need to explain myself. I do like Marc's idea of a necklace, or even a bracelet. Other than that, however, I think that a lot of the things that endeared the photo to many are better seen--in my opinion--in this other photo by Tomas: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7195375 . In that photo, the human element is not muted but affirmed even more strongly--and the contrast between the organic and the inorganic is even more striking to me. The use of the nude form is appropriate to both treatments, but it seems a bit forced to me in the Photo of the Week.

It is not so much that I dislike the one chosen as Photo of the Week as that it has no particular appeal for me.

This is a fine piece of art. I really like the shapes created by the stones around the figure. The light is good for me and the tonal rage is excellent. Congrats.

there are so many nice aspect to this piece. I like that the body creates an asymmetry in the composition, as well as the way the body positioning can be understood as a handshake between two entities (blur your eyes a bit).

This photograph stirs emotions in me that I cannot describe easily. In my opinion thre is absolutely nothing that can or could have been done to improve it. The photographer has created a vision worthy of all the greats in the genre of Ansel Adams

Great composition. I like the B&W creative style which leaves the viewer puzzled as whether it is a bracelet or a hidden woman/man in the nude!

Simply impressive. An amazing tableau of rocks, skin, and sand. Beyond the imagination of most who don't think in these terms, like a puzzle . A Rubik's cube or such . Symbolic too, like a piece of Greek drama even. Not quite beautiful, actually, but compelling. I still get a charge out of your other photo, the totem pole of rocks, Tomas, topped by a curved nude figure. In a category of its own and I would fail with words to describe this image without just displaying it.

Astonishing picture. Not only the conception, that is in many cases it's the more interesting, but the whole set up is excellent. The choice of the boulders, the shape of bracelette, the light that creates contrast but no shades and the angle of 45-50 degrees that adds a 3D perspective.Best regards
