mg 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Hhhhmmmm... I was about to like this too when I saw the thumbnail... And apparently nobody noticed that this is a composite made of 2 (or possibly even 3) separate images - 1) crab and sand 2) the sea and what's beyond...When one looks at the size of the sand at the junction between the sea and the shore, it is quite easy to notice that something is wrong... sand grains so big and immediately next to it, the water ripples are comparatively much too small... Some smudged areas as well at the junction. It takes a lot more than this to do a perfect montage, and I doubt these 2 images could ever be merged in a realistic way in the first place. Best regards. David_Cavan 3,799 Posted October 17, 2009 I tripped over this in the 'random image' section. It is really an interesting picture - almost three pictures stacked on top of each other, with a serene horizon at the top and a very active crab at the bottom. Nice work. Link to comment

alvinyap 1 Posted September 13, 2010 I'm with Marc - I think this image doesn't work for me on a whole, but I can understand why it engages the eye. There's at least 3 points my eyes are draw to - the crab, the breaking waves, and the distant forests. On a closer look, is this a composite? I'm detecting at least 5 separate images here. The scale of the water in the middle of the photo is of a fairly higher frequency compared to the patterns on the sand besides the crab. The sand grains in the center of the photo is also of a very different size compared to the high frequency waves. Plus the perspective of the foreground sand seems a little off compared to the midground water. Plus, if we are getting that beautiful crest of a wave - there is no cause to it as the rest of the ocean behind is placid. The wave itself is also of an emerald hue, which I doubt will happen in real life because you need bright bright light to get that kind of effect, whereas the background shows of as a very soft, filtered light. Exposure wise, I think the waves themselves are underexposed - I'd imagine them taking up near pure white but on my monitor they are almost mid tones. Again, could be a disparity on calibration as well as you, the way the artist wants to represent this image. Regards,Alvin Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 13, 2010 First impression was a great shot. Then noticed the scale looks odd. Then I quickly saw it is a composite of at least three shots, which are not blended too well. Link to comment
dmitri_baravik 0 Posted January 18, 2011 Nice merger of 4+ images.... Frozen water on the background. Breaking wave. Sparkling water in the middle. Fast and sharp photo of the fast moving crab. Some work needed in merging 2nd and 3rd composition.... merger of the water and sand in the center of the composition does not look real. But it is a really cool composition... I'd say impossible to catch in real life... not to mention with the camera used. Link to comment
jrickert 2 Posted January 18, 2011 Some people have commented that this is a composite of 2 or more photos. I don't care. In either case: composite, or not, the lighting all works together to make it a beautiful photo. Great work. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 20, 2011 I just stumbled upon this excellent and well thought out composition. It is both cheery and beautifully composed. Excellent light and clarity. Good thinking on your part, most sincerely, Gail Link to comment
sivaraman 0 Posted May 21, 2011 Dear SumonSorry to say that this is an altered composite image . The different planes and the colour compositon doesnot match. Link to comment
