LenMarriott 9 Posted October 7, 2009 If the main subject here is the architecture of the Basilica then I think this one leaves a lot to be desired. The souvenir stand and the guy selling the hats makes for an interesting street shot on it's own (crop low to emphasize), but I think it takes away from what should be a work of art to be admired & enjoyed. Keep the people & you have an interesting street shot. Toss them out & you have a very nice detail shot of the Basilica. I just don't think they mix well. I hate it when legitimate tourist attractions become so, well.......................touristy. :-) Having said all that, it is what it is & you've captured it well. The category is what's in question here. Always fun to see your latest. Best, LM. Link to comment
maurocarli 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Thank you for your useful and thought provoking comment. What I wanted to convey with this shot is the very heart of today's Venice (at least visually): this mix of architecture masterpieces with the presence of crowds of tourists and tourist facilities. You simply can't split the two aspects and you wind up getting used to it after some time visiting the city. So I agree with you when you say that this is more street than architecture photography.Regards! Link to comment
