Great photo, but I'm really curious where it was taken. Since you are on the left hand side of the road, perhaps it was in Australia?

I don't think the big tree shadow close to you really adds to that picture, although I guess it was there... Personnally, I would have kept more road going to the left of the picture. As it is presented, I feel a little frustrated my eye having nowhere to go when following the road.

I appreciate the comments. I did try cropping the left and bottom but it made the photo worse imho. If it conveys an idea of the hot days and quiet roads in Spain I guess that is enough as that is what I originally was trying to do ( as a souvenir of my favourite country).

Excellent composition. It could easily be used as a teaching aid. So many great elements; the curve, horizon placement, tree location, color contrast and balance. I really like it.

 

Love the stark simplicity of this composition, the large expansive fields of color, and the smooth perfection of newly laid asphalt.

 

The shadow adds some foreground interest and like a clock provides you with the time of day.

An interesting composition with great color and detail. I like your position of the road in the frame but I am very distracted by the large shadow in the foreground. Maybe the same shot, same location, but different time of day would do the trick.
