Excellent..a masterpiece

There is a huge sense of scale in this photo. The wonderfully flat and well-lit sea/snow-on-ice stretches out far, far into the distance. But beyond that we can make out hundreds of miles dark, gloomy forest, and even further away the dreamy mountainscape. The colour couldn't be better, and the well-placed subject seems to lean towards the light. Faultless.

As almost everyone here, I like the tone, light etc... But the best, and I think this is what it makes the difference with another good panorama fotos, is that you feel like 'attracted' by the photo. The fact that you took the picture above the tree make me want to dive into the lake... Well I shouldn't, I presume there is more ice than water...

Jan, in this beautiful photo you are bringing me memories back of many long hiking winter trips to wildness where I used to live. Now I have no winter at all here in south Texas. I stay warm but missing the beauty of it. Again, your photo is a perfect study of color, light and composition of the winter landscape and one can also feel the fresh, freezing air there. After a week, and I would even a say a month looking at number of great landscapes on the site, I think the only landscape I gave a 7 / 7 to was actually Jaap's POW. A few days after rating your picture here a 7 / 6, it occurs to me today, that this image actually deserves the double 7s...

Ok, at first I thought it was after all just another single tree covered with snow, just perfect aesthetically...

But no... After a few days, I realize that the sea and the far mountains + the sky are actually presenting to us, in stripes or layers, all the elements that mother nature used to prepare this big place called the Earth.

The picture also feels just as vast as our planet. I'd say that there is something almost metaphysical to this display of air, water and earth... It looks as if everything would be part of symphony...

Sincere congrats for this wonderful image: you managed to touch me a lot more than I am used to with scenaries. I think this is actually one of the top 20, and possibly even one of the top 5 or 10 best landscape photos on the site...

Great images have all one thing in common. They please viewers more today than they did yesterday... :-) Well done !

It's a so beautiful picture that I would have bet it's not reality. When the nature is more creative than human ! Therefore help by a great shot.
