bill_somerville 0 Posted March 3, 2001 It may be a fun souvenir from a vacation, but is it ever a "good photo" when you merely take a picture of a picture? Link to comment
michael_zellhorn 0 Posted March 3, 2001 It's brilliant. Anyone who has been to Amsterdam will immediately feel the atmosphere of being there. I am surprised that you could get such rich colour saturation out of Kodak 400 print film. Link to comment
joesys 0 Posted March 3, 2001 Hi there! I think the flash reflection detracts the picture. Did you take one without flash? Is the lighting good enough? -Joe Link to comment
markwilkins 0 Posted March 3, 2001 There are two reasons to take a picture of someone else's artwork (copyright issues aside) -- if (1) you are somehow adding something (context, lighting, whatever) or (2) you are attempting to document the artwork somehow (in order to remember it, for insurance purposes, or whatever else.) Your photo was made for the second reason, as I see it, and it's unlikely that you'll ever be able to convey a fraction of the emotional impact that being there in person would. However, it may well be valuable in helping you, or someone else, remember the artwork at a distance. Link to comment
