LenMarriott 9 Posted September 3, 2009 My favourite of your current three posts. I'm also pleased that you aren't afraid to crop to get to the essence of the photo. Most photographers try to fit the shot into the frame provided by the camera but it doesn't always work. A fine composition with the right third occupied by the building and the left two thirds by the expanse of water. There is also a triangle formed by the boat and the two turrets on the roof. To top it all off there is good colour contrast between the reddish roof and the blue water with the white of the sail capturing the eye as it scans the water. Another exception to the general rule against photographing during mid day hours. How to improve or make stronger? No suggestions. I would print & exhibit this one as is. Best, LM. Link to comment
maurocarli 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Thank you for your comment, Len! I'm glad you like the composition choices I've made. It wasn't difficult here, and as usual the choice came form a mix of reasoning and intuition. On the contrary, in the "Summer stroll" photo that I've just published, it took me several time to decide, and I still have many doubts, because in that case both the subjects and the background are eye-attracting, the latter being also very complex.
