ahti_heinla 0 Posted March 2, 2001 I have never tried to do macro photography, but on a recent trip to Burma, I ended up shooting some small objects and butterflies/spiders using a 200mm (!) lens at 1.2m distance. As I have never done these things before, I have trouble judging whether the end result is a totally amateurish mistake, or something possessing at least some aesthetic value as a tiny object shot. I have about one roll full of shots like that, but this one I like the most. Any comments appreciated. Link to comment
alex_medeiros 0 Posted March 3, 2001 While Macro is not an area of expertise for me, I do enjoy this shot. The out of focus web and the angle and light add to the aesthetics. While not critically sharp, I think this gives a good feel of the subject. Keep experimenting! Link to comment
leif_rudd 0 Posted March 7, 2001 i would have thrown the background out of focus even further. i don't know if this would have been possible with your equipment, but consider it next time you have a great opportunity like this one. i would have liked to have seen the web a bit more in focus, but that's minor. great shot. ahti_heinla 0 Posted March 7, 2001 Thanks for the comments -- but apparently others on photo.net do not think it's a great shot -- this pic has the lowest rating in my portfolio ;-) Link to comment
