I love to see some good old b+w 4x5 shots on this site. It seems these days everyone is posting a bunch of crap, shot with digital point+shoots. I love the photo, nice composition and tones. I really like the shapes of the dark tree trunks on the right side, but I think the trees on the left are a bit distracting because they are a lighter tone than the others. Have you tried burning them down to match the trees on the right? Next time post a larger image.

the image is a little small as posted....but what strikes me is that the risk with this kind of shot is a clutter of trees and you have found a midground line of black trunks set agains the leaf covered background line of trees.

 

when I try this kind of shot, my camera fails to do that subconscious zoom focus back and forth, and my images generally have a muddle of many trees in fore, mid, and back ground.

 

The separation of front from back is greatly enhanced in my eyes anyway by the trunks in the middle.

 

Once again, wish it was a larger image scan.

 

I think the suggestion about the trunk in the top right corner is a sound one.
