It is an amazing photo, the fires are here too, but in a bigger distance from where I live, but the damages are terrible to the forests. This is a very interesting and great timing demonstrating the war against them. The blurred BG accentuate the FG and the placement of the plane is very well achieved .Real good document.

I am fascinated by this image. I love how you composed it, and how the red smoke contrasts with the muted background. Beautiful work, Linda. I get a strong emotional impact from the scene as you shot it.

Excellent photograph Linda! It brings back many memories to mind having grown up in the hills surrounding L.A.; frightening and familiar scene. Take care and stay safe. :)

Thank you. We had a long hot summer up here and the fires were terrible. It is all over for another year, thankfully. I watched the California fires on the news. I love California. I spent some time there many years ago, such a beautiful, interesting state. It is tragic to see such destruction. Between the fires and the eathquakes it can be a stressful place to live. Best wishes, Linda

This picture is as dramatic and telling as it gets. I really hope that you're fine and haven't been in danger during the fires.

Thank you. Fire season is over for this year. It was a wicked summer with super hot, dry weather. It was rough for those of us with asthma, but no one died, and there was very little property damage. Best wishes, Linda

and what an incredible shot you got! I sure hope this year is a lot less worrisome. I an super impressed that even though the threat of this fire effected you directly you were able to go out and capture your fears. The composition is gorgeous and the thick smoke feels all consuming. Brilliant job.
