Colorado: Arvada: Writer's Pond

fred_j._lord

The reflections here caught my eye. I had some better compositions but I blew the focus more than this one. Maybe I'll put the saddest one in Stephen's "Bad Image" file category and see if it shames me into carrying the monopod next time.

When I described this image, my wife didn't believe that Canada Geese

did this particular trick. I just want to know if they switch feet

periodically. Does anyone know?

I'm a CO Boy, living in BC now and I don't have the answer!!! Reflections are one of my favorite things and this is a very nice shot. Exceptional because you got this "Pose". We can't seem to train our geese up here!

Fred, If he closes his eye, he's likely to fall alseep and wake up with that foot in the ice. May you should have gone back for that. Then you could have used your wide angle lens.

I don't think there are many who would complain about the focus on this shot. It's breathtaking.

I'm not sure it got down to freezing again until early this morning when a cold front came through. It was balmy yesterday as it always is here just before a cold front.

I love reflection shots, and you have captured a very nice one here. I wish I knew of a place to capture shots like this here in Atlanta...Great shot!

Wonderful shot. The reflection is so perfect as is the pose of the goose. The crop is good but I think the lit spot on the goose is a tad hot.

Kenneth: I will look at the hot spot! It's where the perfect white down of the goose's breast is showing through and I have to think about it.

I am including the flawed image of the view I should have worked until it was correct. Ah well, hindsight is always 20-20! Blurry, off center, distracting reflections, but what great potential it had... this one is for Stephen.

I have seen the Canada Geese sleep like this (one foot) all the time. But, I did not notice that they changed foot. May be I have not stayed long enough to see they change feet? The pose and reflection are nice. I do think the cropping is too tight for my taste.
