Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 16, 2009 Does the glare ruin this shot? I don't have the ability to blend images to fix it. Please give me your thoughts. Link to comment
josefiina 0 Posted August 17, 2009 WOW, what a place. Again i have to thanks for that amazing trip to somewhere what i can only dreaming about. So massive crags so clear water. I think this composition is very nice. Water is like horseshoe. Thanks for sharing Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 18, 2009 I prefer it! I wouldn't mind a little reflection, but the big white blob isn't very attractive. :-) Guess what? I'm upgrading to CS4. I got an email offer from Adobe offering it for only $299, and then I can also buy Lightroom 2 for a big discount. I've been waiting because at my current skill level I couldn't justify the huge expenditure for CS4, but now I'm going to get it. So now I'm going to need to learn how to do this kind of stuff. Thanks for your help with this, my friend! Link to comment
knobby6 1 Posted August 18, 2009 Was there a long time ago, but didn't have a lens wide enough to capture it. Nice colors and comp. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 18, 2009 Just beautiful.....have always wanted to see 'Arizona'.....my brother almost bought a 'vacation home' down there...then the Real Estate Market in Banff Canada where he works went for a dumper...but he did get to visit prior to the Market Change....this is such an awesome 'wonder'..........when you see such beauty....it makes me 'weep'.......thankyou so much for sharing......(PS....liked Jim's 'fix', he is so helpful .........but your photo is wonderful all the same)........sincerely, Gail Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Monte....My zoom lens goes rather wide, so I was just barely able to fit it in. Moving back isn't an option here, as you know. I was too afraid to stand along the edge, so I was literally lying down and extending over the ledge to get this shot. Thanks for your visit! Gail...thanks so much for your many comments on my photos....as busy as you are right now, I'm quite honored that you would take the time. And just think how lucky you are to have reason to visit Banff.....I call it God's country! My daughter married a Canadian and moved to Calgary, which is only an hour away from Banff. So although I miss her terribly, we now can look forward to visiting there often. And you should put Arizona on your list.....such a varied state, and we loved it. We had only been to Phoenix before this trip, but there is so much more. Thanks again for all of your support, and happy moving! Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Fantastic scene, great viewpoint...with Jim's tweak making it even better....Regards Link to comment
skyjammer 0 Posted August 20, 2009 Awesome shot here. I don't mind the glare, although the large white spot on the left branch of the U does subtract just a tad from fully enjoying the composition. Love the vibrant colours. Well seen. Cheers! -Ade Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted August 21, 2009 Christal, I have seen images of this beautiful place by several photographers. You have composed well, but the glare did cause distraction. Of course, Jim has taken care of it. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted August 22, 2009 Fabulous work - maybe one day i will get to visit this place. Best regards and thanks for your recent visits. Link to comment
alishokri 1 Posted August 23, 2009 very beautiful scene photo captured, this colors are really beautiful, thanks Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted August 24, 2009 Christal, very good color. The light is also fine. The area of glare can be easily cloned out in Photoshop. Link to comment
dgv 1 Posted August 27, 2009 This is a fantastic POV... I don't mind the glare either....the red oxide colour has come out really well and for a person that does use pp the photo has come out really well....alas this is the kind of picture that must be seen really large to be appreciated..well done! (PS the CS4 in Europe is at least 3 times the price...I would take it is quite intuitive to use..I learned the few things that I know by my self..I am sure you can do too and Cristal you can always ask fellow PN members, Is what this forum is really about..). jana 1 Posted September 4, 2009 You mastered everything in this "classical" scene. Especially I like the complementory colors. wonderful , Christal , cheers Jana Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 23, 2009 I think the reflection adds to this scene. Love the view you took this from. It is quite a special photo with much appeal. Link to comment
yannik_hay 1 Posted October 6, 2009 Hello Christal, this is very well captured, the horseshoe is complete and the contrasting colours are so nice. The clone has repaired the blob but as you say, just reduce the opacity of the clone to let some reflection through. All the best! Link to comment
rp3o 0 Posted January 23, 2010 Hi Christal, Did you intentionally leave out the sky? Every other picture I've seen of Horseshoe Bend has at least a bit of sky in it, and including at least a sliver of the sky would have been my instinct as well. But in not including the sky, you got to keep the interesting rock formations in the foreground - not a bad trade off! A beautiful shot overall; I also agree with previous posters that the glare does detract a bit. Link to comment
harlequin 0 Posted February 6, 2010 I will just echo all of the other comments. Beautiful shot, well seen. - Charles Link to comment
Phil_Light 795 Posted July 6, 2010 Tough to beat for one of the best overlooks in Utah. From Dead Horse State Park the view into the bend is definitely unbelievable. I don't even think you need to remove the highlight glare from the river reflection. It is what it is. I have sat with my legs over the edge of the canyon and just gazed for hours into the canyon and out into the distance- really superb area. Good base for explorations is Moab home of the slickrock mountain bike riding area East of town and overlooking the Colorado River on top of it. Lovely image. Remember Alex Ee's as well beautiful image from this same or proximate spot. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 27, 2011 I like the glare in this. It brings attention to the river nicely. This is an amazing shot. So clear in details and vivid colors. Link to comment
