Roswell, I have not made any still life images, but I am so impressed by some of those on PN I am planning to give it a go. I rather like your collection of objects, but I guess they ALL need to be really sharp. Good luck. Regards Adrienne

Thanks, I actually softened the focus a bit on purpose, but I can see what you mean. The effect actually looks better in print than on line. Thanks again.

I like the mix of objects, though I do have a couple of suggestions. Try the same shot with the fabric from the back-drop brought under the subjects. in doing so, you'll loose the sharp horizontal line. Second, if you have a soft box or some way to add some fill light, you'll eliminate the shadows on your background. I'd love to see the results.

Thanks, I will try those suggestions and post the results (though it may be this weekend before I can get enough time away from my day job to set it up again). I really appreciate the help!

If you want to have some soft focus objects in the image I guess it would be more natural if they were further back. My eye went to the light brown thing first, because it is light and right in the foreground, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. A mushroom? Look forward to seeing the results. And I will have a try at a still life today. It is too hot and too bright outside to do any photography there!

Adrienne and Paul. I have uploaded three new versions of this shot...had to replace the bananas as some one here ate them :(

Please let me know what you think...

I guess you are going to have to get the iron out to fix those wrinkles! But I do Iike the new ones.

I will attach today's attempt for you. It certainly isn't in the style of all the lovely images on PN with the dark backgrounds, but I had only natural light and the wallpaper as a background for the moment!

That's very well done. The natural light was very well utilized here (I don't think a dark background is essential to a good still life, only if you want to imitate Renaissance art)

I really like the dark background, and think it goes well here; it just needs to be ironed. I really like the pairs of objects here: the silver candle holder and the candlestick match, the sticks and twigs go well together; and the bananas go with the strawberries in the wine glass. They are so unique to me.

P.S.--Sorry that Thomas and I ate the bananas.
