I was scouting around my yard looking for things to shoot when i saw

this on the garage door. Please tell me what you think of this shot.

Does it hold your interest? What about the composition and colours?

Could I have improved this shot? I would value your honest comments!

Thanks, Anthea :)

Anthea, I like your concept and composition. I wonder if it would be stronger - showing texture more dramatically if lower key. Lighting seems a bit flat so limits the effect of texture.

Aviar and Alon - thank you so much for stopping by and commenting on this photo. Much appreciated!

Roy - your comments are food for thought - I'm not really sure what low key means though - I think I could have boosted the exposure a bit, but that would make it darker - is that what you mean? Perhaps you wouldn't mind emailing me and givng me more info about that idea...BTW...I left a response to your comments under "Fence and dying vine"....Cheers, Anthea :)

Anthea, I like your shot's tonal range. For me - I'd probably crop on the left up to the line and include more on the right, but I am partial to unbalanced compositions - It seems that the more interesting textures are on the right. You could even increase those textures with side lighting, maybe just a reflector. fortunately the site is close to home and easily revisited under different lighting. I do love shooting in my yard; once you find a promising subject, you can usually improve your images; and this is a promising image. michael
