aarkp 2 Posted August 17, 2009 a photograph bound to give pleasure to train lovers... are steam engines still in use in the British Isles? ...but for the smoke one could easily assume this to be a shot of a model train... the blur in the foreground is perhaps a li'l disconcerting but the beauty of the engine and the lush green make up for it Link to comment
tonycussen 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Hi Rajat, many thanks for your comment. There are a few steam trains still running in Britain, many are run and managed by enthusiasts on private lines. This one in particular is part of the day to day service on the line between Fort William and Mallaig in Scotland. It only does the one journey to and from Fort William each day dropping passengers off in the morning and returning them in the afternoon. Its very popular and each time I have been there all tickets were sold out. On this shot I got the effect of shallow DOF using lens blur in PS to achieve that 'model' appearance. Like you say though, the smoke gives the game away. Regards, Tony Link to comment
