jtipton 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Hey there Pamela. This picture is nothing less than a joy. It is one of my favorite places. The mood you created with the conversion and the use of the trees to create a natural frame is simply masterful. Wonderful job. Glad you liked the bird landing. That was shot from a moving boat and I had like a split second opportunity. Not the best light conditions, but glad it turned out. Thanks for the comment. All my best from Spokalo-Jim Link to comment
lliebl 5 Posted August 12, 2009 You've captured well in b&w this raw, rugged, and seemingly unspoiled place. Well done! Regards, ~~~~~~~~~Linda Link to comment
drorbaldinger 0 Posted August 12, 2009 tremendous! really captivating, almost surreal. i think i need to branch beyond flowers and architecture... Link to comment

blue-olympus 0 Posted August 13, 2009 What a wonderful scene with a great viewpoint. The natural borders of the surrounding trees enhances this shot no-end. I bet it looked good in colour? Link to comment
pfranklin 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Thank you all for the support on this photo. I am not very good at the b/w conversion but liked the look of this one. Keith Yes it did look good in color, I thought better in the b/w. I have attached the color version and I would be curious to know your thoughts. Warm regards, Pamela Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Thanks for that.... I must admit I prefer the colour with that beautiful toned beach, the whole scene seems more alive, love it......Regards Link to comment
drorbaldinger 0 Posted August 13, 2009 tough choice. i stand by what i wrote about the b/w but the color is amazing. i'll venture to say that i prefer the colored version. very rich colors. Link to comment
pfranklin 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Thank you for the feedback, it is appreciated. I hope you know how much I value your advice and always look for a critique from both of you! I have learned so much from looking at your photos and your words when you look at mine. I went with the bw because this is such a popular over photographed place (although I have never seen one from this viewpoint framed naturally with trees) It was my thought that in the bw version it was a little different and as I said I am not very good at the conversion, but liked this one. Maybe I should have gone with the color version………. Either way I am happy to know your thoughts! Warm regards, Pamela Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 16, 2009 Aahhhhh! A precursor of things to come for us. We'll be at Cannon Beach later this month. This is absolutely wonderful! I love the natural framing....one of the best shots I've seen of this beach. Although I also prefer the color version, I think you should also keep this version. It appeals in a different sense....it's more moody and the foggy nature of the scene is emphasized more. The colors take over in the other one. Did you just go down here? I'll email you. Thanks! images_in_light_north_west 0 Posted August 28, 2009 Nice, I like the B and W version, I've been playing with it lately as well and I like the feeling that B and W brings out. nice work. Ross Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted September 2, 2009 The color version is 'hot' - an attractive 'hot' - it is alive! I think it is the additional tonalities brought to it via the various shades of color and in particular the water, makes a difference. Great natural framing - I might have lowered my camera an inch or two so that the upper left branch does not 'touch' the land mass. Please keep my 'nit-piks in perspective because this is a brilliant image that is very aesthetically pleasing. well done. Link to comment
llgarcia 1 Posted September 17, 2009 A very attractive B&W image. It is dynamic, the inclusion of the juniper branches in the frame creates movement, the mist in the mountains compliments the mood. Great photo with great tones. Best regards! - Lester Link to comment
