Aldemar,

I'm not sure I would call this a descriptive portrait. Mainly because I don't have any idea what a descriptive portrait is. I have never heard that term. I would have a hard enough time calling this a portrait.

It does have a person in it, but I can't see her face and I have a problem with the background. She appears to be dressed very nicely. One reason to include a background in a portrait is to establish a relationship between the subject and the background. The idea is to take the likeness of the subject to a more meaningful pictorial expression of the subject. It adds a completeness to the picture -- it tells a story. Everything in the picture should coordinate with everything else. Everything that is in the portrait is there for a reason and should help tell the story of the subject. I don't know how all of this fits together?

Do not pose your subject straight on to the camera or away from the camera. This is not a very feminine pose. Showing your subject’s widest areas (shoulder to shoulder or hip to hip) makes those areas appear very large. Your subject will appear thinner, more feminine and more graceful if turned at an angle to the camera. It usually looks best to angle your subject somewhere around 45 degrees.

Your focus is very good. You have excellent contrast, tones and the composition is good. I guess I just don't understand the idea behind the image?

Nice shot,

Mark
