jeff.grant 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Ian, that colour is pretty odd but I am not at my real monitor at the moment. I feel that this just doesn't have enough going on to hold my interest. There are some nice elements but a lot of either sky or water between, and they aren't particularly strong.. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Thanks Jeff for the feedback. There are clearly a number of people who think like you – the previous version (noisy with some cloning issues) was rated somewhere in the 5.6/5.4 range which is well lower than my other most recent images. However, this remains a personal favourite of mine. I like how the clouds seem to counter-balance the tufa in the composition and I like the main subject being these anthropomorphically drowning branches which seem to me to be reaching, desperately grasping, for help. The colour is a little odd, I'll certainly agree with that. This was taken post-sunset and then I colour balanced a neutral card to remove all excess blue and this was the result. I, personally, quite like it. You have to love those branches and the slightly surreal feeling I get from them to really like the rest of this. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Ian, it's such an intensely personal thing when we take a photograph. I am constantly surprised by how my images are received. Ones that I love barely raise an eyebrow sometimes. When I now see this on a good monitor, it's a lot better but there are many others of yours that I prefer. One of the reasons that I never cull my PN images, is that when they are chosen for publication by someone else, they are often not what I would choose. Link to comment
