david_l._forney 0 Posted July 29, 2009 Absolutely fabulous, Calvin!! This is a stunning portriat, wonderful DOF, beautiful skin tones, contrast and lighting. The muted, soft background light works perfectly here. Wow, Calvin. You have the capability of producing images like this all of the time. A photograph at this level is one not to be criticized by an amature at my level, so here are some discussion points to consider if you wanted to create different looks. I like the verticle lines behind her, including the dark piece on her left. I like the fact that the black strap is showing on her left shoulder, which makes her all the more sensual. Some may not like the fact that you can see her bra through her white shirt, but I personally don't think it detracts from the beauty or quality of the image, but you could isolate the contrast sliders there to see if you get a look that you like better and evens it out with the other side. If it's at all possible, see how it would look with just a little more room above her head when cropping. If you were putting this into a magazine, you could remove some of the flyaway hairs on top of her head, behind her, and on her left shoulder, face and shirt. When taking a close up image like this in a controlled environment, consider taking several shots at different F stops. You will still get plenty of bokeh because you are so close. But you might find that an image like this with her right eye in sharp focus enhances her look, but that would be subjective, because you may have wanted this look. Consider also enhancing or adding a catchlight in her right eye to give that already wonderful expression a little more sparkle. I do like the very natural look, but you might want to see how the image looks if the tone and contrast of her lips and left eyebrow were just a little deeper. Please don't allow any of these suggestions to detract from a stunning image of an incredibly beautiful woman. Leaving it just the way it is may have more merit than any of the other discussion points above. I hope to see more like this. Thanks for sharing. David Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted July 29, 2009 A stupendous portrait. My compliments to you for your sterling role in this production -- that expression, and the photographer's fine presentation of you, dazes the viewer... and perhaps it has dazed the photographer, hence his chosen caption. You, yourself, don't look dazed to me at all... far from it... an admirer To Calvin: David's wonderful review says much more than i could have. Look forward to your future productions with eager anticipation. Link to comment

david_l._forney 0 Posted July 30, 2009 Interesting. When I looked at this image this morning on my IBM laptop, the colors looked very different from the colors on my Apple Cinema screen. Makes me wonder what people generally are really seeing when they review PN images. Link to comment
