jairorodriguez 0 Posted July 26, 2009 This is a 5 frame panoramic. Comments and ratings are very welcome! Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted July 26, 2009 JR: excellent composition and panorama. Did you have any problems stitching your five images together? Did you use a polarizer? You have a deep color saturation of the sky without any apparent image seams, and the water is so black, like black lava. You've captured the feel of the place quite well. Link to comment
jairorodriguez 0 Posted July 28, 2009 hi Kurt, thanks for your comments on this one! Answering your questions... I didn't have much problem putting the five frames together with PS CS3, just press run and wait. But, I did use a polarizer, which I afterwards realized I shouldn't have, or at least I should had used it differently. The sun was hitting from the volcano side, so when I moved the camera leftward to shoot the five frames (I shot manual) there were some differences due to the polarizer being fixed and the light hitting at a different angle in every frame. I set the polarizer to minimize reflections from the lake, that's why it looks almost black (no post-processing on that). Due to this problem I had to adjust light at some sky stretches and at both lake ends, but I think it didn't work that bad after all. Jairo Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted July 29, 2009 Yes, it looks great. I like your technique of concentrating on the polarized light of the lake for each frame. Since you were conscious of that, it's good you dealt with it. As for the sky, all I have ever read is that you should avoid a polarization filter if you intend to create a panorama since the dark blue will form a shape from side to side and be impossible to stitch correctly. With the lake, however, you succeeded, and at this resolution you seem to have stitched the sky frames quite well. It's really a cool shot, Jairo. I want to go there now :) Link to comment

jtipton 0 Posted August 11, 2009 I actually like the saturation of this picture. It adds contrast to the starkness. Hard to believe this barren landscape is a part of the Cascades. Is that Rainer or Adams in the distance? Great job on the stitch and composition. Best wishes-Jim Link to comment
jairorodriguez 0 Posted August 11, 2009 Hi Jim, thanks for your nice comment. Using a polarizer helped getting the high contrast and the almost black water. I had to apply minor post processing. Yeah! does not look like being in the Cascades at all! That's why I feel this is a very special place in Washington state, nature at work! What you see on the distance is Adams, a place I'd like to visit someday. best regards, Jairo Link to comment
