smhickel 0 Posted January 4, 2003 an issue with my gamma (sounds more serious than it is) on my monitor. I had it set using the Adobe gamma program. My son or someone fooled with the contrast and or brightness and I did about 20 photos that looked stunning to me on the screen, and even when I posted them. Then I looked at them with my notebook monitor as posted here. I ended up deleting them all and will start to repost them to more represent what I saw in them initially. The above is the first of the series that I redid. If you saw this one before you probably saw a more washed out image. This one more properly shows the subtle light on the hill and the azure sky as I intended it. How does your monitor portray it? Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted January 4, 2003 It looks saturated to me, Steve. But not overly saturated compared to a lot of others I see on photo.net. I actually like the brighter colors, the lines running diagonally, the shadows and highlights are good. Other than that the subject matter does not hold my interest for very long. Its probabaly a very good landscape; today, I am looking for more in the photos I am viewing, I guess. Link to comment
smhickel 0 Posted January 5, 2003 I did some work on the sky to bring it out, the landscape had a lot of color in it. Hawaii is pretty place. Thanks for comments. Steve Link to comment
mark_shannon1 0 Posted January 6, 2003 I really like the middle and background, maybe some cropping to lessen the foreground Link to comment
daviddbfotoart 0 Posted January 6, 2003 Lovely shot, but I'm trying to work out whether i'm missing some foreground detail in those white patches or not. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted January 11, 2003 The diagonal's pleasing, and the verdure somewhat surreal. Nice light shift. Link to comment
fp56gallery 0 Posted January 11, 2003 May I ask what exactly you want to show with this image? I think that one should always ask this question before framing and shooting. I think that the way of capturing a certain motive determines the quality of an image. Link to comment
smhickel 0 Posted January 12, 2003 Franz, I believe the photo speaks for itself. The grandeur of the view, speaks for itself. Thanks for commenting. Steve Link to comment
jeff nichols 0 Posted February 6, 2003 I want that foreground to be....pretty, rather than the overlook trampled by other people. Link to comment
smhickel 0 Posted February 6, 2003 Jeff, I don't think it was trampelled. Not too many folks would have bothered to hike to this spot. It was way up the mountainside and without a hat or water one gets mighty parched and hot and bothered by this trek (I Know). No, I believe this is just volcanic rock and outcropping that has a thin layer of dirt and little vegetation due to the nature of the soil and its steepness. Link to comment
