samrat 1 Posted July 21, 2009 Absolutely stunning bit of work. Can I ask, what reworking did you do? It would help learners like me if you could please detail your technique and upload the pre- and post-reworked images. Thanks. Link to comment
robwilson 0 Posted July 21, 2009 Thank you all for your kind comments. Hello Samrat, The processing on this was quite simple to be honest. I am certainly no expert. I processed this using Photoshop 7. This is basically what I did:- 1. Channel Mixer - I used the channel mixer to convert it to B&W. I pushed the green channel to 90, pulled red to 45 and blue to -42. It was just a case of playing around with it until I found a result I liked. 2. Brightness and contrast - I upped the brightness to 3 and contrast to 4. 3. I applied a platinum toning using the 'Denny Wagner Platnum' tone that can be easily downloaded from the webby. Here's where I got it from:- http://www.butzi.net/articles/toning.htm 4. Finally, I sharpened it a little. So, it was really quite a simple job. Whilst I am pleased with the results, check out ChrisH(Socalif)'s page here for real expertise when it comes to B&W conversions! All the very best, Rob PS. Here is the original image as well. I think it actually looked quite nice without any processing. Link to comment

samrat 1 Posted July 21, 2009 That was very nice of you to explain things in such detail. I think part of he reason that the b/w conversion worked so well was that the original photo was well taken. Of course, the b/w conversion gives the photo more character. I will take your advice and visit Chris's photos. regards. Link to comment
